Gigi’s Asian Bistro and Dumpling Bar is located in The Galleria with entrances from the street on Westheimer and inside The Galleria. The menu is created to give your palate a tour of authentic Asian flavors from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore and Maylasia in a setting that is handsome with a sexy, Asian vibe. If you are a group of six to ten people, ask for one of our “Alley” tables, where each cubbyhole is curtained off from prying eyes. 15,000 silk cherry blossoms hang in the sky of our main dining room, “The Cherry Blossom Room,” creating a warm and elegant atmosphere. Executive Chef Junnajet Hurapan, of New York’s Ruby Foo’s, makes his debut in Houston with wonderful modern Asian cuisine. His signature dishes are Heavenly Beef, Shaking Beef, Coconut Green Curry Chicken, Crispy Whole Fish and Japanese Eggplant. From our Dim Sum menu, customers enjoy the Shu Mai stuffed with shrimp and crabmeat, the King Crab Dumpling and Chicken Potstickers. Ingredients
1 1/2 pound cubed filet mignon
1 bunch watercress (hydro)
1 medium red onion (sliced)
5 pieces Thai chili (ground)
2 oz. fresh lime juice
4 oz. fish sauce (three crabs brand)
1 oz. palm sugar
2 teaspoons chopped cilantro
1/2 teaspoon chopped garlic
1/2 teaspoon Japanese chili powder
Method
1) To make the chili lime vinaigrette, combine ground Thai chilis, lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, chopped cilantro and chopped garlic. Set aside. 2) Wok sear the filet mignon with sliced red onions and Japanese chili powder (we called it shaking beef).
To Serve
Place the shaking beef over a bed of watercress and drizzle it with the chili lime vinaigrette.
